hotels

Here are a bunch of hotels you might want to check out (or should I say check in). The Spring Hill Suites is holding a block of rooms for us at a discounted rate, so I recommend trying that one first.

If you are more adventurous, or if you know better than to stay in the same building as the rest of the family, there are some other options listed below. There are about 3 billion hotels in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, so if none of these are to your liking, then a quick Expedia or Hotels.com search should provide plenty of options.

Spring Hill Suites
1020 University Parkway
Sarasota, FL 34234
941.358.3385
We booked a block of rooms at the Spring Hill Suites in Sarasota. There is a discounted rate of $109/night for either a king or double suite. Be sure to book by October 1 to get the discounted rate. Follow the link below to book your room.

Hampton Inn Sarasota I-75
I have heard good things about this Hampton Inn. The rooms are supposed to be nice and clean.

Tradewinds Resort
Anna Maria Island
941.779.0010
To pay a little more and get palm trees on your bedspread, then try this one out. I don't know anything about it other than it is right on a very nice beach.

Lido Islander
941.338.1004
This one is also a mystery, but it claims to be in a great location near St. Armand's Circle and Lido Beach. Expedia has a special going right now for this hotel, so it might be worth checking out.

Sleep Inn
This one is right next to the Sarasota/Bradenton airport and Ringling. They also have a sale through Expedia right now.

Quality Inn or Super 8
If you're looking for a place to stay without spending a bunch of cash these two hotels run about $50/night and are close to Ringling. I have never been to these places so I can't make any guarantees about the rooms, but there are reviews online if you want to check them out.

Just FYI, if you're looking on Hotwire and see a $60 or $70 4-star hotel in central-downtown Sarasota, it's the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. Reviews seem to indicate it's more of a 3-star hotel, so you may or may not consider it a bargain.
